How to make a perfect omelet

Omelets are a favorite breakfast food of mine. How can you make them perfectly? I've tried many recipes and different methods but none have worked. Today, I'd like to share some tips with you in order to make delicious and fluffy omelets every day.

Before we start making omelets, let's remember that eggs are temperamental. They must be fresh, preferably from the organic market, and be kept cold until cooking. If they are not kept cold enough, the whites won’t form properly. The yolks will also break down too quickly and become runny. This can make your omelets look bizarrely colored. If you intend to cook your eggs immediately, it's best to use room-temperature egg.

Another tip is to separate the egg before adding it to the pan. You don't want the white to get mixed with the yolk, as this could cause the egg to curdle.

The egg can burn if it is placed directly on the stovetop. Instead, microwave the egg for 10 seconds before adding it to the pan. The microwave heat cooks the eggs just right without overcooking them.

Next, let's talk about mixing the eggs. Mixing eggs together is important. You need to beat them well. To do this, grab the bowl of the mixer and turn it upside down. Now shake the bowl vigorously. This will whip the air around the bowl and mix the egg well.

Now comes the fun part - pouring the milk into the mixture. Fold the eggs in the milk mixture by first pouring half of it into the egg whites. Don't worry if there are still streaks of egg visible; these streaks will disappear once you flip the omelet.

After folding the eggs, place the pan on medium heat and wait for the oil to start sizzling. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Carefully open the pan's lid and add salt to the pan. An additional pinch of salt will prevent the omelet form sticking to your pan.

Once the omelet forms, cover the pan again. Let the top side set completely. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the other side for another minute or two. Serve the omelet immediately by removing it from the pan.

This recipe is best made with whole milk. However, it can also be used with skimmed milk.
